Duronto Rajshahi fight back from three successive losses to thump Barisal Burners by four runs in a high scoring match. Rajshahi's 213 for 6 was the maximum score in the Bangladesh Premiere League, surpassing Dhaka's 208 for 5 in the 1st season, but the Barisal Burners' 209 for 7 is now in 2nd place after they maintained a high run rate but missed crucial partnerships during the chase.
Charles Coventry started the blockbuster party with a 25 ball 62 knock, included with seven fours and four sixes. He reached 50 off just 20 deliveries at the end of the 5th over, when his opening partner Tamim Iqbal was 8 runs from 11 balls.
Tamim took up the charge after Coventry's dismissal. He was harsh on the spinners, and scored 66 runs from 47 balls. Tamim smashed five sixes and three boundaries, Sean Ervine reserved up the pace with an undefeated 30 off 11 balls, striking three sixes. The final seven balls of the innings, Ervine and Abul Hasan hit four maximums.
Kapali and Shafiul Islam gave only 46 runs off their four over spell, while the rest of the Burners attack was taken for 167 runs at a run rate of 13.92 per over.
Burners replied in intense but scoring 10.70 per over was a huge task. Brad Hodge smashed a few before falling to a catch at sweeper for 23 runs. Sabbir Rahman and Joe Denly build slightly, while Azhar Mahmood exposed Rajshahi before Ervine had him leg-before on 54 runs from 28 balls.
The Burners' batsmen try to reproduce Rajshahi's 13 sixes but cut down short by three. Burners slipped to the bottom of the seven team contest after suffer their 4th defeat in five matches. Charles Coventry named for the Man of the Match award for his quick knock.
