Sylhet Royals 198 for 4
Mushfiqur Rahim 56, Chanderpaul 51
Rangpur Riders 197 for 4
Shamsur 98*, Imrul 53
Sylhet Royals blazed their technique to a six wicket triumph after they chased down 198 runs against Rangpur Riders with an one overs left. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Mushfiqur Rahim guided the way with quick fire half centuries before Elton Chigumbura brought out the key blows to complete the win. This is the 7th victory in nine matches all but set their qualification in the top four while Rangpur slide further down the pecking order.
The 29 runs needed from the final three overs, Chigumbura smashed Murad Khan for two sixes off the final ball of the 18th over which cost 17 runs. It left the Royals to take 12 off 12 balls which was brought down further by yet one more club six by Chigumbura which level the scores and left a comfortable finish.
Most of the credit, goes to Chanderpaul who troop and hacked the ball to hit six fours and two sixes in his 51 off 29 deliveries. Chanderpaul and Paul Stirling put on 48 runs for the 1st wicket but Stirling's dismissed in the fifth over didn't discourage Chanderpaul as he and Mushfiqur take the score to 75 runs in the Powerplay.
The second wicket pair put on 45 runs before Mushfiqur added another 46 runs for the fourth wicket with Nazmul Hossain Milon. The Bangladesh skipper hitted five fours and two sixes and was the real momentum as he brought down the asking rate to a convenient area for the Royals. The chase overshadow Shamsur Rahman's unbeaten 98 runs as the Riders opener finished his fifth half century in the season. He smashed eight sixes in his 50 deliveries innings but could not fairly reach three figures after he gained just a single ball in the last over.
This was a dramatic knock from Shamsur But it would not add up for anything as the confines of the Riders bowling attack were showing quite badly.
