Duronto Rajshahi shot up to 3rd in the league after a resounding seven wicket win over Rangpur Riders. Their fourth win was largely because of the opening partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Charles Coventry, and their bowlers keeping the Riders' batting in check in the last five overs.
Chasing 163 runs to win, Tamim and Coventry put on 95 runs for the 1st wicket . He made 50 from 36 deliveries, included with two sixes and four boundaries, Coventry made a 47 from 35,
After Munaweera fall to a wonderful catch on the boundary by Cameron Borgas, Rajshahi were 131 for 3 in 15.4 overs and the Riders sensed an opening. But Jahurul Islam and Sean Ervine saw Rajshahi home with an over to left. Jahurul struck three gorgeous sixes, one of which was the winning hit straight down the ground, in his 38 off 18 ball.
The Riders had elected to bat after winning the toss and their top order, made up of local players, had a good start. Junaid Siddique and Shamsur Rahman added 60 runs in seven overs and Shamsur added another 55 runs with Nasir Hossain. Shamsur sustained his good form in the season, smashed his fourth half century. The 68 from 57 balls was also his highest score in the competition. The three Rajshahi spinners bowled well again, with Monir Hossain and Munaweera picked up a wicket each.
